Photo Album & Scrapbooking Club |
Calling all young creators! Join the Photo Album & Scrapbooking Club and turn your favourite memories into beautiful keepsakes. You will learn how to design and decorate your own mini photo albums using colourful papers, stickers, and creative layouts. Each session includes fun themes, storytelling prompts, and tips for capturing moments that matter. It’s the perfect mix of art, imagination, and personal expression — and everyone leaves with a scrapbook full of memories to treasure! Creativity, friendship, and fun - one page at a time! Please bring at least 20 photos (on photo paper!) for the first session. These can include family, friends, sports, camp, hobbies, pets, etc. Cost: $20 per term (includes photo album, papers, stickers, and decorative materials).

Nature |
Into the Wild - Nature AG focuses on fostering a deeper appreciation for nature through hands-on, nature-based activities. Students will explore the beauty and importance of the natural world, learning how to connect with and care for their environment. Activities such as bush walks, creative arts using natural materials, and tasks where students will gain an insight into sustainability practices and making eco-friendly choices will be explored. The workshop aims to inspire a lasting respect for nature and equip students with practical tools for living sustainably.

Pottery |
Do you love getting creative and working with your hands? In my Pottery Club, we will explore the wonderful world of clay! You will learn how to shape, model, and decorate your own creations — from bowls and animals to fun little sculptures. We’ll use real clay and a kiln to bring your ideas to life. After the firing process, you’ll be able to paint and glaze your work to take home your very own ceramic masterpieces! This club is perfect for anyone who enjoys art and creativity. No experience needed — just bring your imagination and enthusiasm!

Each week, we’ll explore stories that spark imagination, laughter, and curiosity - from magical lands and brave heroes to fascinating facts about the real world. Whether you’re a confident reader or just beginning your reading journey, this club is all about discovering the joy of reading and sharing it with friends. Sports Club – Try Something New Every Week! In Sports Club, we try a different sport every week! Sometimes we play together as a team, and sometimes there are fun challenges just for you. This way, you can discover what you really enjoy. You’ll learn new sports, get stronger and more confident – all while moving a lot and laughing together. A club full of action, movement, and fun with your friends!

Musical* |
The Musical AG is a fun and creative AG covering skills in music, drama, movement and stagecraft. We sing, dance, play act, dress up, and, of course, laugh a lot! Come along and join in with producing our performance. Once you have decided on your favourite character, we can begin learning scripts and songs and designing the costumes for the performance. If you love the stage and using your imagination, then this is the right AG for you. Singing, acting, dancing and dressing up is so much fun. Please note, photos and performance footage will be published on the GISS website and social media.

Taekwondo |
Taekwondo – Move, Play, Get Strong! Taekwondo helps kids learn important movements and feel great about their bodies. It’s not just about fitness – it also builds confidence and focus! In this program, you’ll learn simple Taekwondo techniques, have lots of fun, and become more skilled step by step. Everything is taught in a way that’s perfect for your age. Get ready for exciting challenges! Combine different moves and strategies into cool sequences. Taekwondo is a fun way to get strong – both in your body and your mind! Through games and exercises, you’ll boost fitness, confidence, and even emotional growth. Our coach Darran McNulty is a certified Australian Taekwondo Coach, 4th Dan Black Belt, and has been teaching at GISS for over 10 years.

Dancing is fun and a great way to express yourself with music and movement! There are lots of different dance styles – like ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, and ballroom. When you dance, you don’t just learn cool moves – you also strengthen your body, your feelings, and your imagination. With the help and support of an experienced dance teacher, you can discover more about yourself and show your unique personality. Dancing also teaches discipline and respect – for yourself and for others. Our dance teacher, Miss Ebony, was once a student at GISS. She has been dancing for over 20 years and teaching for more than 5 years!

Unlock your STEM superpowers with fun projects, robots and coding challenges! You’ll explore the amazing LEGO EV3 robot - one of the most popular robots used in schools and competitions around the world! You’ll learn how to design, build and code your robot to move, think and solve challenges using motors and sensors. You’ll also test your robot, fix problems, and even get a taste of real robotics competitions.

Get ready to zoom around on a skateboard! All gear and protective equipment will be provided as you ride over fun obstacles, try cool tricks, and build your balance, coordination, and confidence. All while having lots of fun with friends!

Puppet Making* |
From Creation to Performance: Did you know that puppetry is over 600 years old and loved by people all over the world? In this club, you’ll discover the exciting world of hand puppet theatre! You’ll make your own puppets, practise simple techniques, and create your own stories. Together, we’ll build a stage and design props. At the end, we’ll proudly present our play at one of the assemblies. Join us and find out how much fun puppetry can be! What you need: a colourful tea towel (for the puppet’s body); one or two thick, differently coloured socks (for the puppet’s body); multiple old newspapers (for the puppet’s head); if you have them, scraps of fur or other fluffy fabric (for your puppet’s wig). Everything else will be provided by your teacher.

Drama* |
Lights, Camera, Action!! Ever wanted to know what it's like to be on a film set? Have you wanted to learn the art of acting for the camera? This is your opportunity to learn the skills to become proficient at acting for the screen. Students will rehearse, make acting choices, costume / make up and shoot their scenes under lights. All under the guidance of actor / acting coach Paul Winchester. Paul has been a professional actor for 25 years + and owns / runs the Point Break Drama Acting studio in Dee Why. A series of scenes will be filmed & edited by Paul, so students have a take home show reel of their work.

While most AGs (co-curricular activities) are available to all students, not all of them run in Term 1 and 2. Additional AGs will be offered in Term 3 and 4, and the selection for Term 3 and 4 will take place at the end of Term 2.
